Duffus Castle
Duffus was one of the most secure fortresses in Scotland when built in 1140. It was burned down by Andrew Moray in 1297 and was rebuilt in stone. By 1700 the castle had been abandoned.

Flora MacDonald
In June 1746 Bonnie Prince Charlie took refuge in Benbecula after the Battle of Culloden. Flora MacDonald helped the prince escape dressed as a woman. She later confessed to the Duke of Cumberland that she acted from kindness only and would have helped him in the same circumstances

Falcon Square Inverness
The old Mercat Cross still stands in front of the Town Hall in Inverness, but this new one is now used for most civic functions. Designed by Gerald Laing it stands over 11 metres high and depicts a rearing unicorn with a falcon spiraling down the column in the 4 classic stages of attack.
